Sonamarg
Overview
Sonamarg — ‘meadow of gold’ — is the last major town before the Zoji La pass and the road to Ladakh, making it both a destination and a gateway. Thajiwas Glacier is reachable by a short pony or walking trail, and the surrounding high-altitude meadows are a launch point for treks to alpine lakes like Vishansar and Krishansar.
